« Medical Imaging for the generation of personalized biomechanical models of the lower limb: applications to ankle arthrodesis and tibial osteotomy »

Project funded by the FRM : 2017-2020

FRM

Abstract :

This FRM project has two objectives: (1) to define and to validate an image-based methodology to automatically generate patient-specific biomechanical models of the lower limb and (2) to use these models to provide assistance for ankle arthrodesis and tibial osteotomy. The project includes a research lab (TIMC-IMAG) pioneer in the domain of image-based biomechanical modeling for CAMI, a company (Texisense) that addresses the design of software for embedded medical devices, and three hospitals (Grenoble, Garches and Paris) with their respective radiology and orthopedics departments. The methodology will first be evaluated on a population of healthy volunteers and patients. Then, patients requiring ankle arthrodesis or high tibial osteotomy will be included in the study and their corresponding models used to evaluate the proposed surgical assistance system.
